Watt density is the thermal energy emitted per unit of surface area. If the density exceeds the medium’s ability to absorb heat, the element sheath will fail prematurely.
Pro Tip: For 8mm and 11mm elements in air, if your result is over 30 W/in², we strongly recommend using finned tubular heaters to increase surface area and lower the density.
